But that comes with a caveat - I've painted a number of cars, and this will not hide any imperfections. Your tailights needs to be clean and shiny beforehand. I've had the best luck by getting a 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System and polishing the taillights first (follow the directions; basically you just skip the regular paper and do only the foam-backed 3000 grit followed by the polish). Once they're smooth and shiny, get yourself some paint prep stuff (I like these Dupli-Color Grease and Wax Remover Prep Wipes, but you might be able to get them cheaper in a store). 90% of a paint job is prep, so make sure you... Make sure you spray this about a foot away from the lights, and very very THIN coats, let them dry in between coats,and it works perfectly. Also if you mess up I heard goo gone graffiti remover takes the nite shades right off, because paint thinner does not work (believe me). However, there are many drawbacks to using this product.Pros: Affordable alternative to otherwise time consuming tinting or opting to take it to a costly shop to have it done "right". When done "correctly" you may achieve good results. However, doing this job correctly may take some knowledge with painting/color sanding and other prep work related to body work. Cons: Easy to mess up, by messing up I mean getting runs from spraying too wet/close, nobody likes the runs. Does not hide imperfections. Easy to apply too much when you think you still might want them a little darker. There really are no instructions on the can. Do not expect the can to tell you what to do/what not to do.
