I've tried nearly every wax there is, looking for that perfect shine. No matter what I've tried, I keep coming back to Meguiar's #26 Paste Wax. This is not the easiest wax to work with. If you apply it too thickly, it's a real pain to get off. If you get it into crevices, it's hard to get out, and since it dries white, residue is very noticeable.

However, if you take the time to apply it in thin layers, and go over your vehicle thoroughly when removing it, the reward is an unbelievably deep shine that will cause everyone to ask you, "Is your car new?"

5.0 out of 5 stars Best looking wax under $25, September 21, 2011

First off, don't get turned off by the name, Yellow is the color of the stuff, it won't turn your paint yellow! It does look great on yellow paint though, also reds and darker colors like dark blue and black. For lighter colors you are better off going with something else, Collinite 845 is a great choice.

Pros:
-DRIPPY wet looks. You'll want to grab a towel and dry your paint, its that wet!
-Decent durability, approx 2-3 months on a car parked outdoors
-Fills in minor swirling
-Leaves paint nice and slick

Cons:
-Stains trim (rubber, black plastic)
-Needs to be applied very thin, otherwise it can be hard to take off
-Can streak if used on a hot surface or if too much is used

Overall, this is a great wax that has been around for a very long time because it looks so great. its a total steal at the price.

This is a yellow paste wax that came with a sponge applicator pad. I was skeptical that this could really out-do my old standby turtle wax so I did a side-by-side comparison on the hood of my 2011 metalic black VW GTI. After a wash and glaze treatment I applied half turtle wax and half Meguiar's #26. They both applied the same and the Meguiar's was a little easier to buff off. Initially there was no noticable difference between the two. Then a couple of days later, after a little rain and pollen accumulation I noticed that the Meguiar's side still looked brilliant while the turtle wax side looked like a waxed car that had dried pollen stuck to it. The verdict is still out on how long a coat will last but with the ease of removal and the general sheen, I'm happy to keep using this on my cars.
